Victories are the reason a team comes to be,
Sprinters can lope and leapers can hop;
Speak first to yourself and firmly say…
That's what is takes to earn “self-respect;”
Heed not the opponent's name or fame;
You've put forth all your energy.
You strive to make us winners,
We're rough around the edges,
You've put forth all your energy, inspiring us to learn.
You strive to make us winners…your goal is victory.
We're rough around the edges, but if you see us through…
Every time you sacrificed
You gave . . . you built . . . you lead us all . .
The paths we'll take are choices made

Lord…Help me see how I can improve---
On my own performance and their every move
Lord let me hear the needs of each one---
In personal matters as well as in fun
Lift up my heart so that when things get tough-
I'll be reminded YOUR LOVE is enough
Speak to me
©
Guide me with comforting word
Tell me my prayers have been lovingly heard
Inspire me with new ideas I'll see
Impart to the ones now depending on me
Last of all LORD…
I'm convinced there's no length
To what we'll accomplish
Through Your constant
Strength.

To be an athlete, you must first learn
That it's “self-respect” you'll have to earn.
You must conquer you, or you'll surely get beat,
'cause you are the one, against whom you compete.
But the scores and the stats are for the fans to see
All athletes know what matters more
Is the attention to the effort that causes the score.
Talent without effort is always a flop.
If you hold back in fear, of opponents or mistakes,
You simply don't have the stuff that it takes.
“I'm going all out…today is the day!”
Then concentrate totally to do what you're told;
Be poised, be alert, be aggressive and bold.
It's not quite as tough as many suspect.
The goal never changes, all athletes agree,
Whatever you have “is what you must be.”
Care naught for others praise or blame.
For there is this fact at the final gun
If you were all you could be…
You won!

Champions and championship teams are made not born.
They use the talents they were born with to reach their full potential and
Allow nothing to come in between where they are now and where they want to be.
Champions understand and believe that their limitations are goverened only
By their imagination.
They perform in practice with intensity
And never allow failure on any given day
To take away from their eventual success.
Champions believe that they control their own destiny
And luck has little to do with what the “will” accomplish.
Discipline, commitment, and heart are second nature to them
And they understand that just trying doesn't cut it.
Champions believe in themselves, not because their coaches are goo,
Not because their teammates are good,
But because they are
Good.

A courage to strive and to dare.

And if I should lose, let me stand by the road

A gymnast must have said it for a gymnast surely knows…
That in this funny sport of ours discouragement runs high
And at times the very best will find this virtue passed them by.
When hands are ripped and throbbing…when every muscles' sore.
Can a gymnast still have the patience to limp in for more?
When you've lost old moves you used to do and progress seems so slow?
Can you still have faith in better days and not feel so sad and low?
Can you admit you're frightened and yet, not give into fears?
Can you conquer pain, frustration, and often even tears?
When someone else does something, you've tried do long to do…
Can you really feel glad for her and not just pity you?
And when success seems far away…your efforts all in vain…
Can you force yourself to wear a smile and disregard the pain
If despite the tribulations, you can say I won't give in…
Maybe someday you'll discover
That it's now
Your turn to win.

When you win…Be a good sport!

It's that thoughtful smile when one's desperately needed
It's the extra push, a reason why we've succeeded.
This part of our personality which never fails to strive,

We are enthused about life and optimistic about what's to be,
Because the Cheerleader inside looks for the best in life you see!
It's the strong support upon which you stand,
It emerges as a friend to lend a hand.
Where does the light come from? Where does the ray start?
It shines in your mind but ignites in your heart.
The confidence to try, the will to believe
The acceptance of failure and the way to achieve.
It's very close by, it's something we trust:
It's the fighter inside,
It's the

A winner is a person who can persevere in the face
of all diversity. He walks quietly with true humility and
maintains his sovereignty with calm pride. He boasts not of
his victories, yet accepts readily his defeats. He never believes he
can be beaten, yet never seeks an excuse if he should.
A winner never loses sight of his goal, never stops striving,
no matter how magnanimous it might be. He is quick with
praise, yet not fickle. He inspires, he leads, he works, he sweats,
he bleeds, and cries, but he NEVER quits.
A winner will risk everything on a game of chance…and
lose…but begins gain never breathing a word of his loss.
To paraphrase Kipling, 'He will fill every unforgiving minute
with sixty seconds of distance run.'
A winner will attempt the impossible, challenge the odds,
and achieve the improbable…never underestimating
his opponent, but always expecting him to do what he
himself would do in a similar circumstance. A winner
may never achieve his ultimate purpose, but he will
NEVER give up. Whatever pinnacle a winner may
reach, he will never be satified.
He Lives, Sleeps, and Dies…
WINNING
WE FINALLY LEARNED WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT
The secret of success comes hard no doubt!
We trained and we practiced . . . we ached and we cried
And we found we got better the harder we tried.
We were pushed, yelled at . . . preached at, too
But the more that this happened . . . the more we all grew!
“You can be anything you want to be!”
This voice kept shouting constantly.
So who can we blame for this daring approach?
That General . . . That Counselor . . .
That Friend

“COACH!”

When you've indulged yourself in the sisterhood or brotherhood of the unashamed
when you possess the innermost spirit and desire.
When your die's been cast… when your decision has been made.
When you have chosen to step over the line…Stand up…be counted…
And become a disciple of the determined .
When you won't look back, let up, slow down, back away or be stilled.
When your past has been redeemed . . . when your present makes sense.
When your future is secure.
When you're finished and done with low living,
Light walking, small planning, smooth knees,
Dulling dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap given and dwarf goals.
When you live by faith,
When you lean on your strength . . . when you walk with confidence.
When you're lifted by prayer and labored by love.
When your direction is such that your gait is fast . . . Your goal is real . . .
Your road is rough . . . your way is narrow . . .
But your guide is reliable and your mission is clear.
When you cannot be bought . . . compromised . . . detoured . . . lured away . . .
